How does RoomVerdict calculate the composite score?

Accepted Answer

We collect ratings from up to seven major platforms (Booking.com, TripAdvisor, Google, Expedia, Hotels.com, Agoda and Trip.com), convert each to a common 0-10 scale, then compute a weighted average accounting for review volume (log-scaled), recency (24-month decay), and our confidence in the cross-platform match. Bayesian shrinkage with prior K=30 reviews prevents low-data properties from getting extreme scores.

Why does my hotel score differently from any single platform?

Accepted Answer

Because no single platform is unbiased. Booking.com only counts verified-stay reviews and skews 0.5-1.5 points higher than open platforms. TripAdvisor accepts open reviews and skews lower. Google reviews include non-guests. Our weighted aggregate corrects for these structural differences.
